Prayers

Pray for our Priests

Father In Babtism you have given me to share in the Priesthood of your Devine Son. You call me to exercise it inintersession for all your people. I wish to pray for those in the ministerial priesthoodwhom you have called to serve Your people of the diocese of Derry, which has been shaped and fashioned by the success and failure of past generations. Many times have you helped us over the centuries, As individuals and as a people, To face events no training could have forseen. Once more in our time we find ourselves faced with great obstacles Which attack our morale and weaken our cohesion. Help us to draw confidence from that past resilience And to find comfort in its proving of your abiding care. Make us aware of our shortcomings as a people, Wounded and hurt as we are from the struggles of the past. Guide us in coming to terms with reality That past answers may not be enough. Give me courage and wisdom not to be afraid of the new But to trust you who are the master of the plan So that, as we listen to you and to one another, We will find the answers that will bring our stumbling world back to you. We make this prayer through Jesus our High priest, present at your right hand, who intercedes for us in the Holy Spirit all days until the end of time. Amen

Vocation Prayer

God I know you love me and have great plans for me. But sometimes I am overwhelmedby the thought of my future. Show me how to walk forward one day at a time. May I be open to the many choices that lie before me, listen to others for advice, and pay attention to my own feelings. By doing these things may I hear your call to a lifestyle and career that will me love as only I can and let me serve others with the special gifts you have given me. Amen.
